Gangs
Maffia

The Mafia rules the St. Marks district in Portland. Its members walk around in elegant dark suits, and under the suit they mostly hide a pistol and a shotgun. They are loyal to the family and very traditional. Their car is the extremely fast Mafia Sentinel, but sometimes they ride in a Limousine. On the radio, Double Clef FM plays. The head of the family is Don Salvatore Leone. They get their wealth through violence, collecting protection money, and robbery.
Triads

The Triad has nestled into Portland's Chinatown. They walk around in blue clothes, their special trademark is the many tattoos, and their car is a pitiful fish van, in which they usually listen to Chatterbox. Don't you dare offend their territory, because they bite for that! If there's fighting to be done, the baseball bat and the pistol come out. Their boss is not known. They make a living from money laundering and from plundering the Mafia, and they collect protection money too.
Diablos

The Hepburn Heights district of Portland is the territory of the Spanish. A typical street gang, they fight with fists and baseball bats. They wear jeans, sneakers and a red headband. Their car is the lightning fast and good-looking Diablo Stallion, and their leader is the "ox", El Burro. Of the radio stations they prefer Head FM. It's not known what activity they cover their expenses with.
Yakuza

The members of the Japanese mafia walk around in elegant clothes on the streets of Torrington, Staunton Island. Their weapon is the Uzi, and their car is the rather easy-to-handle Yakuza Stinger. Lips 106 is their favorite radio, and their bosses are Kenji, who runs a casino, and his sibling Asuka Kasen. Just like the Mafia or the Triad, they also collect protection money, and besides that they deal with counterfeiting and gambling.
Yardies

The Jamaican gang moved into the Newport district of Staunton. It is a street gang, so they fight with fists and baseball bats. They are the only gang in all of Liberty City that keeps up good relations with the Cartel. They deal in drugs bought from the Colombians. Their car is the Yardie Lobo, and what else could they listen to but K-Jah FM, which plays reggae music. Their leader is King Courtney.
Colombian Cartel

The Colombians rule two territories: the Fort Staunton district of Staunton Island, and the Cedar Grove district of Shoreside Vale. They walk around with Uzis and AK47s, and they are not easy opponents. They wear cowboy boots made of snakeskin, T-shirts with a logo, and (sometimes) a ranger hat, and their car is the Cartel Cruiser. They produce a drug called SPANK and try to sell it. They like older music, so they listen to Flashback FM, and sometimes Rise FM plays behind the wheel. Their boss is the dear old Catalina.
Hoods

They hang around in the Wichita Gardens district of Shoreside Vale, equipped with Uzis. They wear fashionable, brand-name street clothes and red or purple hoodies. Their car is the Hoods Rumpo XL, a small van. They like MSX and Game Radio. Their boss is D-Ice.
