Characters
Grand Theft Auto VI stars Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, the series' first playable couple, who get tangled in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. Rockstar revealed seven supporting characters, and the game launches November 19, 2026.
Grand Theft Auto VI is the first GTA with a playable couple in the lead: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, set loose in the state of Leonida, "home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond", in Rockstar's words. The official pitch is that both have always known the deck is stacked against them. When an easy score goes wrong, they end up in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state, and each has to rely on the other to get out alive. The same synopsis was used for the Launch Trailer of October 15, 2026.
Rupert Humphries, Rockstar's senior vice-president of narrative, calls it "a Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative". Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson said the two stay partners in crime for most of the story, but the romantic side is optional and can be skipped without penalty. Rockstar also told Dazed that in free roam players can run them as a pair or split them up and let them cause trouble separately.
The two start the game interested in each other. How it goes depends on the player's actions and choices, and if it is neglected for too long it can end in a breakup. Even then Jason and Lucia keep working together in the story.
Rockstar revealed its "Only in Leonida" character pages, with Jason, Lucia and seven supporting characters, on May 6, 2025, the day of Trailer 2. The game launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Jason Duval: an easy life that keeps getting harder
Rockstar's one-line summary of Jason is that he wants an easy life, but things keep getting harder. He grew up among grifters and crooks, did a stretch in the Army to shake off a troubled youth, and ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners. The official text hints that he is ready for something new. Two of his lines set the tone: "If anything happens, I'm right behind you" and "Another day in paradise, right?"

Rockstar says meeting Lucia could be the best or the worst thing that ever happened to him, and Jason hopes for the best without knowing how it will go.
His daily life runs through Brian Heder. He lives rent-free in one of Brian's properties and pays for it by helping with local shakedowns. Cal Hampton is his friend, and Rockstar notes that Cal is happy at "the low tide of America" while Jason has bigger plans.

Trailer 1 in December 2023 never named him. He appeared only as Lucia's unnamed partner in crime, and his name came with Trailer 2. That trailer opens on him going about his business in the Keys before he picks Lucia up on her release from prison.

In the Launch Trailer, Jason admits he got into some trouble in the Army and did not leave on the best of terms.

Lucia Caminos: taught to fight, freed by luck
Lucia's father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk, and by Rockstar's account life has been coming at her swinging ever since. Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary, and sheer luck got her out. Her family roots are in Liberty City, and she wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days there. Prison left her with a rule: "only smart moves from here."

"The only thing that matters is who you know and what you got," she says on the page. She is committed to her plan whatever it takes, and Rockstar says a life with Jason could be her way out.
Trailer 1 opens with her as an inmate. Asked whether she knows why she is there, she answers "Bad luck, I guess." It ends with her and her then-unnamed partner robbing convenience stores with bandanas over their faces.

Trailer 2 briefly shows her cage fighting, which fits the fighter background Rockstar describes.

Lucia is the first non-optional female protagonist in the series; earlier games had optional female avatars.

Brian Heder: a beach bum who moves like a great white
Brian is a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys. He still moves product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori, and lets others do the dirty work. Rockstar says he looks like a Leonida beach bum but moves like a great white shark. Nothing beats a Mudslide at sunset, he says, and he boasts: "I hauled so much grass in that plane, I could make the state of Leonida levitate."
Part of Jason's deal is stopping by for Lori's sangria once in a while. In Trailer 2, Brian talks rent with Jason and shouts "Just go get me my cheques!" Lori helps run the boat yard and appears in the Extended Look of August 27, 2026.

Cal Hampton: safest at home with the Coast Guard radio
Cal is Jason's friend and another of Brian's associates. What if everything on the internet were true, he asks. He feels safest at home, listening in on Coast Guard radio with a few beers and some private browser tabs open. "There are way too many birds flying around in perfect formation," he says, and "The psychopaths are in charge. Get used to it."

Raul Bautista: the bank robber who raises the stakes
Raul is a seasoned bank robber, a man of "confidence, charm, and cunning" who is always looking for talent willing to take the risks that pay the most. "Experience counts," he says, and "A professional adapts." His recklessness raises the stakes with every score, and sooner or later his crew has to decide whether to double down or pull their chips from the table. He is on the official cover art next to Jason, Lucia and Boobie Ike.
He is the robber Jason and Lucia drive getaway for. In the Extended Look, Lucia drives while Jason and Raul shoot at pursuing police, then the group switches to a backup car.

Boobie Ike: street years turned into a club, a studio and a label
Boobie is a local Vice City legend who turned his years on the streets into a legitimate empire of real estate, a strip club and a recording studio. "It's all about heart" plays on the club's name, the Jack of Hearts. Rockstar calls him "all smiles until it's time to talk business", and his own accounting is blunt: "The club money pay for the studio, and the drug money pay for it all."

His most important investment is a partnership with young music mogul Dre'Quan Priest in Only Raw Records. All they need now is a hit. The Extended Look opens with Jason and Lucia collecting a shipment tied to Boobie, and the job goes wrong and turns into a shootout.

Dre'Quan Priest: more hustler than gangster
Dre'Quan was always more of a hustler than a gangster. Even while dealing on the streets to make ends meet, his goal was to break into music. He books acts into Boobie's club, but since signing Real Dimez he has his eye on the wider Vice City music scene. He sees dancers as his A&Rs: "If the record's a hit, DJs gonna be spinnin' it." The label's name, Only Raw Records, doubles as his tagline.

Real Dimez: one hit away from fame
Real Dimez are a duo, Bae-Luxe and Roxy, friends since high school. Their tagline is "Viral videos. Viral hooks." They started out shaking down local dealers and turned that into cash with "spicy rap tracks and a relentless social media presence". An early hit single with local rapper DWNPLY took them to new heights. Five years and "a whole lot of trouble" later they signed to Only Raw Records, hoping lightning strikes twice. In one lyric they rap: "All my dimes in this club. Meet my twin, make it a dub." Rockstar's summary is that they are one hit away from fame.

Trailer faces: cops, racers and a Megamundo opening gone wrong
These characters are known mostly from the trailers, mainly the Extended Look.
- Méndez: a Vice City Police Department officer seen in Trailer 2 and the Extended Look, where he leads a raid on a drug deal involving Jason, Lucia and someone called Raymond.
- Valentina: hires Jason and Lucia to escort Andrés de León to the opening of the Megamundo building.
- Andrés de León: a wealthy Megamundo associate, escorted at the opening of the company's first US headquarters.
- Petra Navarro: Megamundo's Chief Operating Officer, who meets the pair at that opening.
- Yago: a street racer who shouts at rivals while Jason drives.
The Extended Look ends with Jason and Lucia on security duty at that event. Rivals interrupt with a shootout that leaves Lucia in apparent danger.
Rockstar has also officially described Wyman, an "eccentric collector and local fixer" who gives a special commission to restore abandoned classic cars. That is Ultimate Edition content.
No voice actor is confirmed, only guesses
As of the Extended Look and September 2026, Rockstar has not officially confirmed any voice actors, Jason's and Lucia's included.
- Stephen Root (King of the Hill, Barry) said he is in the game ("you're gonna see me in it"). His character is reportedly Brian Heder.
- Dylan Rourke is the fan favourite for Jason, based on looks and voice.
- Manni L. Perez is the most-cited candidate for Lucia. She had a small role in GTA Online.
- Cal speaks in Trailer 2, and his voice has been compared to SNL's Bobby Moynihan. Dan Snyder has publicly denied being Cal.
- Fan sites call the prison official who questions Lucia at the start of Trailer 1 "Stefanie Gates".
