About us
Codename GTA is a fan site about the Grand Theft Auto series, running since 2003.
How it started
It began in April 2003 as a teenager's site, built while waiting for Vice City to come out on PC. The first version ran at a free address, GTAvice.ix.hu, and when the Hungarian magazines GameStar and HC Gamer wrote about it, it was still one person's work, with a dictionary on the desk and other sites' source code on the screen.
Then came its own domain, CodenameGTA.hu, and a team: Gyufo, Ati, s0me0ne4u and others. We covered San Andreas, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories, then GTA IV and GTA V. Around 2013 the site went quiet and closed.
Why we're back
GTA VI is taking us back to Vice City, and it brought back the enthusiasm the site was born from.
What you'll find here
- GTA VI and Grand Theft Auto news in English and Hungarian, with sources.
- Trailers, characters, places and guides to the older games.
- The old Codename GTA articles, coming back bit by bit.
If you read us back in the day, it's good to have you here again. Questions, bugs or ideas: write to us.
Codename GTA is a fan site, not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.
The old crew
Codename GTA went online on 11 April 2003, 23 years ago. Until 2013 these people wrote its news, often late into the night, unpaid, for the love of GTA. Thank you: this site stands on your work.
