NBA 2K27 trailer teases a GTA VI themed Season 3

2K's official Season 1 trailer for NBA 2K27 ends with a short tease of a GTA VI themed Season 3, with the Rockstar Games logo on screen. IGN and GTAVice.net both picked it up. The scene starts at 1:19 in the video.

In the closing shot the camera tilts down to a purplish poster with palm trees, which IGN says looks very close to the first artwork Rockstar released for GTA VI. Seagulls and police sirens can be heard in the background. The camera then moves to two arcade cabinets, one carrying the 2K logo and the other the Rockstar Games logo. Their screens read "Season 3" in the GTA VI font and colours. Season 2 gets a brief preview of its own earlier in the same trailer.

Beyond the trailer itself, neither 2K nor Rockstar has formally announced the crossover or said what it contains. GTAVice.net notes that earlier NBA 2K seasons added rewards, cosmetics, events and other themed content. IGN raises a practical problem: NBA 2K is rated E, while GTA games are rated M, so it is unclear how much of Vice City can make it onto the court. Its guess is Vice City themed gear or a Vice City basketball court.

The timing is an estimate as well. According to IGN, NBA 2K seasons tend to last about six weeks, which would put Season 3 around GTA VI's release in November. GTAVice.net expects a start in late November, possibly about a week after the game launches. 2K has not given a date.

IGN ties the tease to the larger marketing campaign that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has hinted at. Until now, IGN notes, GTA VI marketing has amounted to two trailers and a set of screenshots released with pre-orders. GTAVice.net calls the NBA 2K tie-in possibly one of the first major cross-promotions between Take-Two franchises around the launch.

The next step, according to IGN, is an extended look at GTA VI that Rockstar will release on Netflix later this week.
