Ex-GTA 5 animator: another GTA VI delay wouldn't shock me
Former Rockstar animator Mike York says Rockstar could push GTA VI again if the final mission isn't ready. Then he went on Twitter to say he doesn't actually think it will happen.

Somebody said the D-word again. Delay. Put your drink down for a second and let's look at who said it and what he actually said.
Mike York is a former Rockstar animator who worked on GTA 5. He told Indy100 that, going by his own past experience, Rockstar "could delay it again." He added his own caveat straight away: he doesn't work there anymore, so he can't say anything about it with confidence. So this is one ex-dev's opinion. It's not a leak, it's not insider info, and nobody at Rockstar is whispering in his ear.

His argument is basically that Rockstar holds all the cards. "They can do whatever they want and people will wait right now, it doesn't matter. If they need to do what they need to do, they'll do it." He even sketched out a scenario: November rolls around, the final mission still doesn't look good and still has a few bugs, and "they'll push it six more months if they have to." His verdict: "I would not be shocked at all. I don't think it would hurt them or anything."
Then the quotes started spreading, and York went on Twitter to cool everyone off: "Just so we are clear, I don't think they will delay it again. But I also said I wouldn't be surprised if they did. They really want to release the best game possible even if that means pushing it out farther." So every headline screaming "former dev warns of delay" can go to hell. He said it's possible. He never said it's likely.
The context matters here. Insider Gaming points out that GTA VI has already slipped twice, first from 2025 to May 2026 and then to November 2026, and Take-Two has reaffirmed the current window several times since. According to the latest announcement, Insider Gaming says, the date is November 19. GamesRadar+ wrote November 9 in its piece, so one of them has a typo. Check Rockstar's official page before you book the day off.

Do I expect a third delay? Not really, and York doesn't either. Where he's dead right is the waiting part. Two delays in, we're all still here.
