Weapons
In this article I'll try to show you the weapons of San Andreas, that is, show them with pictures if possible. In the near future I'll also try to write several locations for every weapon, to make things easier for you (for some you can already find them now).
Melee weapons:
- Our fist: Of course we can use our fist this time too. What's more, we can now build up our muscles in the gyms, so we can punch harder. In the gyms, by the way, we can also learn different fighting techniques. (Of course we can use our legs too, but I wouldn't open a separate paragraph for that.)
- Brass knuckles: I guess nobody needs an introduction, we already had the pleasure in Vice City. In Los Santos, starting from our starting house, there's one at the left side of the first bridge crossing Grove Street (in the grass).
- Baseball bat: We used it in Liberty City and Vice City too, this one needs no introduction either. We get one during the first missions.
- Pool cue: In San Andreas there's now a chance to play pool, but you can do more with the cue than just play.
- Golf club: We already met it in Vice City too, you can swing big with it.
- Shovel: A new weapon, its power is similar to the golf club's. In San Fierro, during a mission, construction workers attack us with shovels, so we can get plenty of them.
- Nightstick: Of course the cops use it this time too, we can find it in the police stations (and on the cops too, of course).
- Knife: With the knife, after sneaking up and grabbing the enemy from behind, we can now even cut their throat, Metal Gear style. We'll get it in several missions.
- Katana: The big favorite Japanese sword couldn't be left out, we can slash away with it again this time.
- Chainsaw: We can use the chainsaw again too, we get this one during several missions as well. But there's one close to our Los Santos starting house, you'll find it at a junkyard next to the rails.
Pistols:
- 9mm Pistol: The most basic weapon, the cops use it too, but so do most gang members and criminals. At hitman level you can have two of them.
- Silenced 9mm Pistol: A 9mm with a silencer, we get it during several missions.
- Desert Eagle: The toughest of the pistols, at hitman level it's certain death.
Shotguns:
- Shotgun: The basic shotgun, its look differs from the other GTAs.
- Sawnoff Shotgun: A shotgun with a sawn-off barrel, at hitman level you can have two of them.
- Combat Shotgun: In GTA 3 and Vice City we knew it as the SPAS-12, the strongest among the shotguns.
Submachine guns:
- Tec-9: A pretty weak weapon, but at hitman level you can use two of them. The gang members run around the streets with these.
- Micro SMG: Tougher than the Tec-9, but still not the real thing. At hitman level you can have two of these too.
- SMG: The toughest of the submachine guns, the in-game equivalent of the MP5. In a gang war, in the second round the gang members attack with this.
Assault weapons:
- AK-47: Can't be left out of any game, the terrorist weapon of all time. At hitman level it's brutal, in a gang war, in the third round the gang members attack with this.
- M4: The ?in-game? equivalent of the AK-47, at hitman level this one is brutal too. The soldiers use these.
Rifles:
- Rifle: A strong weapon, we already met it in Vice City.
- Sniper Rifle: The sniper rifle of course couldn't be left out this time either, one shot and you're dead.
Heavy weapons:
- Flamethrower: The flamethrower. We get one during the last Badlands mission.
- Minigun: The name is deceptive, but its look tells you everything. The most brutal of the rifles, there's no auto-aim, but whatever or whoever we hit gets destroyed.
- Rocket Launcher: A rocket launcher. We'll mostly use it against helicopters and planes.
- Heat-Seeking Rocket Launcher: A heat-seeking rocket, preferably shoot it at vehicles that give off heat.
Explosive weapons:
- Grenade: We met it in the previous two GTA parts too, it hasn't changed much. The longer we hold it in our hand, the farther it flies.
- Molotov cocktail: The molotov cocktail is quite dangerous, if we don't throw it far enough we can easily get hurt too. We get one during a Los Santos mission, and this is also the mission where we use the fire extinguisher for the first time, by the way.
- Remote Explosives: Remote-controlled explosives. Let's place the bag, go to a suitable distance, then blow it up with the remote. We get it during several missions.
- Tear gas grenade: Not a deadly weapon, it's more for tactics. It does reduce health, but it's mainly for slowing down and disturbing the enemy.
Other:
- Fire extinguisher: We meet the fire extinguisher in several missions, of course we have to put out fires with it. There's always one in the kitchens of restaurants.
- Spray can: A little side game of San Andreas, graffiti. Instead of hidden packages, in Los Santos we have to paint over fifty graffiti. We get it during the first missions, but there's one in the upstairs bedroom of our starting house, next to the bed.
- Flowers: We should take flowers mainly to our girlfriend, but if we have no other weapon we can beat anybody up with this too. They're scattered in lots of places.
- Camera: In several missions we have to take photos, so we'll get it. In San Fierro we have to take photos in fifty places, like with the graffiti, instead of hidden packages. In our starting house there's one next to the spray can. By the way, we can freely take photos with it any time, and we can save the pictures to a gallery.
- Dildo: Yes, a dildo! There's one at the Los Santos police station, and we can also get one in one of the missions set in Las Venturas. We can take it to our girlfriend as a gift.
- Night vision: We use it in several missions, in the dark of course.
- Thermal goggles: Its look is very similar to the night vision goggles, with it we can notice things of different temperatures, for example even through a wall. The blue color shows the cold, while the red shows the warm, of course.
- Parachute: Parachuting is a really good thing. We mainly use it when jumping out of planes, but it comes in handy jumping off higher mountains and buildings too. We get one at the flight school, and during several missions.
- Phone: During the game we make a lot of phone calls, we get several missions this way.
