Take 2's report on the fourth fiscal quarter of 2007 has finally arrived, so we can tell you how things stand with the publisher of our favourite game series. Much better than anyone could have guessed at the start of the year, or than the publisher itself expected.
OH NO! - you cry out as you start reading the Sunday news. The news is about GTA again, but unfortunately this time it's not about the release of GTA IV. In an interview with Shacknews, video game market analyst *Michael Pachter* points out that the agreement between Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games expires in February 2009, and in theory Rockstar becomes independent.
Whoa, there's news around GTA IV. First of all: the cover has been unveiled. The latest box shot follows the style started with the third game (although back then it was only the NTSC version), meaning the cover is made up of small pieces of artwork. Nice.
If everything had gone to plan, we'd have been playing GTA IV for three weeks by now. Sadly, development time has stretched out a lot, mainly because the game has to be developed for two completely different platforms (PS3 and Xbox 360) at once.
New information about GTA IV, which will only be released in 2008, has appeared in GamePro magazine. Let's see what it is:
The big day has come: the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV was released at midnight. The trailer shows us Liberty City, which looks much prettier than it did in GTA III (some of you will be getting a little excited ;).
Although there's still no confirmation from Rockstar or Take 2, we can now be sure that a PlayStation 2 port of Vice City Stories is on its way. The PS2 version has appeared on Sony's website, with no release date for now.
We're lazy, folks, which is why two days ago we failed to report that Vice City Stories is coming to PlayStation 2. Yes, at least for a day, that's what the various gaming portals were saying, after the age rating for a PS2 version of the game appeared on the ESRB's site.
We still owe you the UK software sales charts for the last three weeks of December, so here they are. It seems that as Christmas drew closer, demand for both Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories went up among the Brits, and in the final week VCS almost made it into the TOP 10.
Unfortunately the Grand Theft Auto games have slipped further down the UK software sales chart. Vice City Stories dropped five places and Liberty City Stories three compared to last week's sales.
Several new items have recently been added to the Rockstar Warehouse, Rockstar's online store, all related to the Grand Theft Auto games.
