Multi Theft Auto Goes Open Source
The 3D-era GTA games released on PC so far (GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas) unfortunately had no multiplayer mode out of the box, but that didn't last long, as modders quickly got to work and created the Multi Theft Auto mod, which was made for all three games. Until now the project was the relatively closed work of a few programmers, but last Friday (the 21st), realizing its countless advantages, they switched to open source. From now on, even you, dear reader, can join in the work, if you have the necessary knowledge and free time.
Since 2004, with 16 developers living in different corners of the world, we have created 1554 files and more than 550,000 lines of mostly C/C++ code. And now we have decided to make the Multi Theft Auto project open source.

What does this mean for us, ordinary players? Most likely much faster bug fixing, and as a result a much more stable, faster, better client, in a word, a better gaming experience. So be it! Until then, December 3, GTA 4, with multiplayer out of the box. We're waiting!
