Take 2 reports: thank you very much, things are going well
Take 2's report on the fourth fiscal quarter of 2007 has finally arrived, so we can tell you how things stand with the publisher of our favourite game series. Much better than anyone could have guessed at the start of the year, or than the publisher itself expected.
In fiscal year 2007 the publisher took in revenue of $981.8 million (in 2006 it was $1.038 billion, more than half a million better), which puts its loss at $138.4 million in 2007 (in 2006 it was $184.9 million, so an improving trend). The unexpected revenue is mainly thanks to the good sales of Bioshock. For 2008, of course, the publisher is counting on a positive balance, since GTA IV is coming, after all.
It's coming, but when? The financial report doesn't tell us that, the game still hasn't been given an exact date, so the second fiscal quarter (February-April) remains a possibility. It definitely won't come in the first quarter, as the publisher released the list of titles coming out then - there's a GTA on it, by the way: VCS is soon coming out in Japan for both PSP and PS2.
Take 2 also promises episodic content for the 2008 quarter, marked as Xbox 360 - wasn't PS3 supposed to get exclusive content too? The first downloadable content arrives on Xbox Live Marketplace on October 31, 2008.
