Rockstar's four official GTA Vice City videos on YouTube, from the 2012 anniversary trailer to the 2021 Definitive Edition comparison. The original 2002 trailers and TV spots are not among them.
Before GTA Vice City came out in 2002, Rockstar released three trailers made from PlayStation 2 footage. Four more official videos followed later, each for a re-release: one for the mobile port in 2012, three for the Definitive Edition in 2021.
The original trailers (2002)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Anniversary Trailer (29 November 2012)
The oldest of the four runs 1:14 and marks two things at once: ten years since the original game came out, and its mobile release on 6 December 2012 for select iOS and Android devices. Rockstar described it as a nostalgia-filled video that looks back over a decade and thanks GTA fans for their support.
It also served as the promotion for the 10th Anniversary Edition, priced at 4.99 US dollars on the App Store and Google Play. That version came with updated character models, new lighting effects and more precise firing and targeting.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition Coming Soon (8 October 2021)
A 25-second teaser, and the shortest video here. It announced The Definitive Edition in honour of the 20th anniversary of GTA III's original release. The description names GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas as the two equally legendary games that followed, so the collection's scope is clear from the first clip.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition Trailer (22 October 2021)
The full trailer, at 0:59, shows GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas together, each enhanced for a new generation of platforms. Its main job was to give the release details. The digital launch was set for 11 November 2021 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher. A physical release followed on 7 December 2021 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - The Definitive Edition Comparison Video (11 November 2021)
Released on the collection's launch day, this 33-second video is the only one of the four that deals with GTA Vice City alone. It sets the original game against The Definitive Edition. Its description sums up the story as Tommy Vercetti's quest for revenge, set in a neon-soaked tropical town in the 1980s.
Rockstar said Grove Street Games adapted the game to modern platforms using Unreal Engine. The upgrades it listed are higher resolution textures and enhanced lighting and weather.
