Twitch CEO says GTA VI multiplayer lands next year
Twitch boss Dan Clancy told Bloomberg he's talked to Rockstar about its plans and expects an even bigger streaming bump when GTA VI multiplayer launches next year. Rockstar hasn't confirmed any of it.

So the guy running Twitch just casually told Bloomberg when GTA VI multiplayer is coming. Not Rockstar. Not Take-Two. Dan Clancy, Twitch CEO, who says he's been in the room with Rockstar talking about their plans.
Here's exactly what he said:
"We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and also helping them think about how they can engage our creators. You are going to see this big bump with GTA VI, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer."
We're writing this in September 2026, so "next year" means 2027. Clancy also expects a huge launch for the game itself in November, its release month.

Now the cold water. Rockstar hasn't announced when multiplayer launches, and it hasn't even officially confirmed a GTA Online 2. Insider Gaming calls Clancy's line an expectation, not a confirmation, and points out that GTA V's Online mode showed up just two weeks after the game. So a gap of months would be a real change of plan. PC Gamer thinks Clancy probably isn't authorized to announce anything like this, but says his comment doesn't sound like guesswork. They've asked both Rockstar and Twitch for comment.
My bet? This isn't some random leaker on X. It's an on-record quote from a guy who actually talks to Rockstar about streaming. I'd put real money on a 2027 window.
One more rumor in the mix: Insider Gaming notes that court documents have pointed to 32-player lobbies for GTA VI Online. Unconfirmed, so keep the salt handy.
And if you're worried about your GTA Online garage: IGN dug up Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick's older comments. NBA 2K Online wasn't shut down when NBA 2K Online 2 arrived, and Zelnick said: "We've shown a willingness to support legacy titles when a community wants to be engaged with them." IGN reads that as a hint that GTA Online keeps living. Reasonable read, not a promise.
Quick reminders: GTA VI launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and this week Stephen Root confirmed he's in the cast.
Now go clear your 2027 calendar. Just in case Twitch knows something.
