Take2 Report: Third Quarter of 2005

Take2 Interactive, the publisher responsible for the GTA games, held a conference call in the middle of the week, on Wednesday, where the company reported on its third fiscal quarter of 2005.
The third fiscal quarter, ending July 31, brought the publisher $169.9 million in revenue, a 6% increase over the same period of 2004. This was of course largely thanks to the release of GTA: San Andreas on PC and Xbox. The Hot Coffee mod, which caused a huge scandal, cost the publisher $28.8 million in damages.
Next week, by the way, the fixed San Andreas discs will hit the shelves, with the mod's functionality no longer accessible. Thanks to this, the game will be rated M again, meaning the bigger retail chains will sell it once more. For now only the PC and Xbox versions are being re-released; the PS2 re-release will still keep us waiting a little.
PSP: The newest GTA episode coming to Sony's handheld, Liberty City Stories, will still be released in the fourth fiscal quarter, so we'll see it on store shelves by October 31, 2005 at the latest. According to rumors, the debut is expected around the middle of October. In the coming days the game's official site will finally be updated, where hopefully lots of info and screenshots, maybe even a video, will be waiting for visitors. Rockstar will be coming out with two new titles on PSP in 2006, so it's easily possible that we'll get a portable GTA next year as well.
