Rockstar India is hiring an Online Systems Administrator
Rockstar Games has posted a full-time Online Systems Administrator role in Bengaluru, working on the infrastructure behind its online games and services. The listing mentions "upcoming releases" but names no game.
Rockstar Games has posted a new job listing for an Online Systems Administrator at its game development studio in Bengaluru, India. The role is full-time and based in the office. The hire joins the team that runs the infrastructure behind Rockstar's online games, features and services. The listing is on Rockstar's Greenhouse job board, and GTAVice.net and its sister site iGrandTheftAuto both reported on it.
The listing says the team provides 24x7 Network Operations for those online services and hands-on NOC support to IT Operations across enterprise, Online and development environments. It also builds, maintains and plans monitoring systems and infrastructure for upcoming releases.
The daily work is specific. The new administrator will run Windows and Linux systems in a highly available, public-facing environment, deploy and manage SQL Server 2017 and 2019, look after IIS and .Net C# applications and a local VMware multi-cluster setup, and monitor services with Check MK, Splunk and Grafana. Other duties include keeping systems available during maintenance, patching and hardware upgrades, helping with root cause analysis and working with data center technicians on hardware maintenance.
Rockstar asks for:
- at least 2 years of work in Linux and/or Windows environments
- a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- experience with high-traffic, public-facing systems
- scripting in PowerShell/DSC, Bash, Python, PHP and/or Perl, plus REST API automation and Chef
Experience supporting online gaming development and production environments is listed as a plus, not a requirement.
The listing does not name GTA VI or GTA Online, and neither do the fan sites that reported it. The only reference to future projects is the phrase "upcoming releases". Some readers will link that to Rockstar's next online offering, but Rockstar hasn't said so, and two words in a job ad are thin evidence. The full listing is on Rockstar's Greenhouse board for anyone who wants to apply.
