Rob Nelson tells Famitsu GTA VI will not slip again
Rockstar North's Rob Nelson told Famitsu that GTA VI will definitely release on November 19. Insider Gaming read the interview through a machine translation.

Rob Nelson of Rockstar North has said again that GTA VI will not be delayed. He said it in an interview with the Japanese outlet Famitsu, which Insider Gaming read and reported on using Google Chrome's automatic translation. Nelson's exact wording in the original may therefore differ a little from what is quoted below.
Famitsu asked him whether the game will definitely release on November 19. According to the translation, Nelson laughed and said he would be thrilled if people felt confident about the quality, then added: "And yes, it will definitely be released."
He also described where development stands. In the translated text he says he likes the game "quite a lot, in fact" and calls the design very complex, with various systems working together. He said he is proud of how the team worked together on it and very satisfied with the result, but that work goes on every day to refine the game and get it running in a stable, smooth way.
The reassurance has an obvious backdrop. As Insider Gaming points out, GTA VI was first due in 2025, then moved to May 2026, and was then delayed a second time. Some players still doubt the current date for that reason, and a laugh in a Famitsu interview is unlikely to settle it for everyone.
In other interviews, Insider Gaming notes, Nelson has explained why GTA VI avoids topical real-world stories.
Other outlets use the same date. GamesRadar+ lists GTA VI for November 19 in an article about NetEase's Ananta, which it says launches in January 2027. Rockstar has not announced any change, so as of today the game is 86 days away, due on November 19.
