MTA: San Andreas
This is my umpteenth attempt at publishing this post, but the mysterious self-modifications of the system kept getting in the way. So, as you can easily tell from the title, this is about one of the most anticipated projects of the MTA team: the multiplayer mode for San Andreas.
The boys can count themselves lucky, since all their rivals have vanished from the spotlight and they are now the lords of the GTA series' online scene. Still, let's spare a silent minute, free of keyboard bashing, in memory of the fallen...
So, after this little préliminaire, it's finally time to talk about the latest and not-so-latest news worth mentioning on this topic. Not long ago they announced that the admin console is done and the program has entered beta phase 15. Well, here's a little list of what the administration interface can do:
- Kick a player
- Ban a player
- Mute a player
- Freeze a player
- Get a player's IP address
- Add/remove bans
- Change the server password (if passwords are enabled)
- Adjustable maximum player count (up to the value set in the server config file)
- Shut down the server (if this option is enabled)
- Change the map
- Current map name and map time (how long it has been running)
- Who is logged in as an RCON administrator
On another note, it seems the guys expect a decent level of maturity from their community, as they issued a call to avoid leet, that is, the personalized speaking style (e.g. 'u' instead of 'you', or n00b and similar words). Failing to comply can even get you banned.
