More GTA VI gameplay leaks: key cloning, a taser and a healing drug called Zombix
CyberLeek has dropped more clips of what looks like real GTA VI gameplay with Jason. Rockstar is quiet but busy with takedowns, and the leaker wants your crypto. Don't give it to them.
Somebody really wants Rockstar's attention. The group calling itself CyberLeek has put out more clips of what looks a lot like real GTA VI gameplay, all with its watermark slapped on top. Eurogamer counts the latest as the third leaked video. PC Gamer says two more clips came after the first two. Either way, the pile keeps growing.
First, the reality check. Nobody knows how old this footage is. Rockstar hasn't confirmed a thing and hasn't answered Eurogamer either. But the clips keep getting pulled from the sites that first hosted them, and according to PC Gamer the DMCA notices are flying again. Studios don't usually run that fast to bury fake footage. So do I think it's real? Pretty much. Do I think it's what you'll play in November? Maybe, maybe not. Old builds change.
What's in the clips
It's Jason in every clip. In the one Eurogamer describes, he drives a muscle car through Vice City at night like he stole it (he probably did), fights security at a warehouse, then takes on the cops, taser in hand. There are slow-motion fight moves. He climbs into a big truck, the screen fades to black, and then we get a cutscene:
PC Gamer describes two other clips. One is a night raid on an 'Allied Crystal' refinery: Jason tases the guards and drives off with a truck. The other is uglier. He steals a police motorcycle, puts it in a river, and kills people at an encampment under a freeway.
The small stuff is the good stuff:
- Next to a car that isn't his, Jason gets two prompts: 'Smash Window' and a brand new 'Clone Key'. How cloning actually works? The clip doesn't show it.
- With the taser out, the aiming reticle never leaves the screen. PC Gamer thinks that could mean hipfire or a shake-up in combat.
- Walk up to NPCs and you can greet or taunt them, RDR2 and Bully style.
- Looting bodies is faster than in RDR2, thank god. There also seems to be an item wheel separate from the weapon wheel.
- A healing item called Zombix, with a warning that "repeated use of Zombix will temporarily have a weaker effect on your health." So no chugging your way through a five-star chase.
- And while Jason walks under a freeway, two birds just drop out of the sky in front of him. Bug, omen, Florida? Your call.
The part that stinks
CyberLeek says it's doing this to push Rockstar into releasing GTA VI on disc. Cute cause. Then it points people toward buying cryptocurrency, and that's where I'm out. Consumer rights group Stop Killing Games said it straight: "Do not send these people your money, no matter how much sympathy you may feel for their actions." Listen to them. Leaker plus crypto pitch is a combo that has never once ended well for the people buying in.
CyberLeek also claims there are "2-4 more leaks incoming" tomorrow. I'd bet on something showing up. Whether it's real is another question, because PC Gamer warns that AI-generated fakes are already floating around next to the real-looking clips. If a "leak" looks too perfect, or a bird has six legs, close the tab.
The real thing isn't far off. PC Gamer has Rockstar's official reveal on Thursday, August 27. Eurogamer says the Netflix "extended look" premieres a week after these leaks, and it goes up free on YouTube later the same day.
So: stay dark for eight days, or watch every grainy clip CyberLeek throws at you? I know which one I'll fail at.
