LibertyBounce makes GTA III dance, plus a Brooklyn mural and a very proud bird
A Reddit modder ported ViceBounce to GTA III, so Liberty City now squashes and stretches to your music. Also this week: a San Andreas mural in Brooklyn, a weird old promo shot and a GTA Online bird on a mission.

Liberty City was never a happy town. Grey skies, wet streets, cops who love you way too much. And now every car in it bounces to the beat. Thank Reddit user No_Handle8553, who ported tek-95's Vice City mod ViceBounce to GTA III and named it LibertyBounce.
LibertyBounce: Liberty City hits the dancefloor
Here's what it does. Cars, boats, trains, helicopters, planes and pedestrians squash and stretch in time with the music. Press F11 in game, pick an MP3, FLAC, WAV or OGG file, and the mod finds the beat and loops the track. Too lazy to import anything? It bounces to the in-game radio too.
Drivers and passengers wobble along with their ride, while the wheels stay planted on the road. The controls are the same F6-F11 setup ViceBounce uses, so if you played with that one, you already know your way around.
It only changes visuals. Physics, collisions and missions aren't touched, so no, a jiggling car is not your excuse for failing a mission. Nice try.
You need GTA III PC v1.0 and an ASI loader, Ultimate ASI Loader for example. One known flaw: headlight glows don't follow the squash. It's free and open source under MIT, sitting on GitHub as Antriksh1984/LibertyBounce, with a video to show it off.
And credit goes where it belongs, because the porter says it loud first: the idea, the beat detection and the music importer are all tek-95's work. ViceBounce came out a week earlier, and LibertyBounce was rewritten to hook into GTA III. That's how this crew should run. One modder builds it, another drags it to the next city, and everybody gets named.

A San Andreas mural that won't quit
ithepunisher shared a hand-painted GTA San Andreas mural in Brooklyn, New York, described as still standing after many years. Someone painted this by hand and the city let it live. Respect to both.
Rockstar, what the hell was this?
K0GAR dug up an odd pre-release promotional image Rockstar used for San Andreas and asked the question for all of us: "why did Rockstar use this as a pre release promotional image?" It's an image post with just a title, so I won't pretend to know the backstory. Somebody in marketing had a night, that's all I'm saying.
Hard work pays off
Over in GTA Online, claricestrling posted a clip where, "after a lot of hard work", they finally pooped on another player's car, apparently as a bird. They thanked "God and also this other player". Some people grind for a new car. Some grind for this. I know which one I respect more.

Now go load your loudest track and make Liberty City dance. The town won't smile, but its cars will.
