GTA: New York

This morning we had news of a Hungarian GTA game, and now we're setting sail for foreign waters. An international team of modders has decided to build an in-game version of New York, using the San Andreas engine. The team includes American, British and Portuguese creators, so hopefully we'll get a nicely varied end product.
GTA: New York will use the San Andreas engine and comes with plenty of new features. A new story, a new map, new cars and a new atmosphere characterize the project, so what we get is a completely new game. The map is being made of New York, and within that, downtown and midtown Manhattan will be included in the game. Real locations and real buildings will appear in the mod, and we'll be able to explore them by car or on foot. New characters, gangs and police units will also show up in the game.
At the moment the map is 12% done, the vehicles 4% done, and the weapons are already completely finished. We don't have any information yet about a release or how the game will be made available.
