First six GTA VI album songs pass 4.1 million Spotify streams in a day
The first six tracks from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album drew 4.1 million Spotify streams worldwide in their first 24 hours, according to figures published by The Music Universe.

The first six songs from Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album were streamed 4.1 million times on Spotify worldwide in their first 24 hours. The figures come from The Music Universe, not from Rockstar Games or Spotify, and were reported by the fan sites GTAVice.net and iGrandTheftAuto.
Rockstar announced the album on September 17 and released the six tracks the same day as a first look at the full record. It is a joint release with Atlantic Records and has 34 original tracks. The album comes out digitally, on CD and on vinyl on November 19, the same day as GTA VI.
According to The Music Universe, the effect on Spotify went well beyond the six songs themselves. Streams of the official Grand Theft Auto playlist rose by nearly 40,000% compared with the day before. Searches for "GTA VI" climbed 3,042% above their usual level, and searches for plain "GTA" rose 950% worldwide.
Listeners also built the songs into their own libraries. On release day more than 250,000 user playlists added at least one of the new tracks, and fans set up more than 2,000 new playlists related to GTA VI. The playlist got the most plays in the United States, followed by Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Germany.
The individual numbers break down like this:
- Morgan Wallen's Last Thing You Need charted highest of the six, entering Spotify's US Daily Chart at #23.
- Travis Scott's RHYNO was the most shared track. The six songs together were shared more than 137,000 times.
- Artist page views rose 1,200% for Keith Richards, 168% for Morgan Wallen, 96% for Rauw Alejandro and 93% for Travis Scott. Travis Scott still had the most page views overall.
The Keith Richards figure is the eye-catching one, though a percentage jump says as much about the starting point as about the new listeners.
These are third-party numbers. The full album arrives on November 19.
