E3 2006: GTA

Tomorrow the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) opens its doors in Los Angeles, and the day before, the three big console makers, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft, held their usual conferences.

GTA wasn't at the biggest gaming event last year; the only mention was at the Sony conference, where the game's future PS3 release was announced. At this year's E3 Vice City Stories, which is in the works for the PSP, will most likely be there - as soon as we have any material on it (screenshots, video, anything), we'll post it.

But back to the beginning: the console makers held their conferences today, and the Microsoft conference, which came last, had a huge surprise in store (drum roll): 2007, GTA4, on Xbox 360. Then came the confusion: several well-known news portals (led by gamespot.com) immediately reported it as an X360 exclusive - but Rockstar Games quickly denied that. Grand Theft Auto IV will be released on October 16, 2007 in America and on the 19th in Europe, on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at the same time.
