Analysts estimate 7 million GTA VI sales so far, with record purchase intent
Sensor Tower puts Grand Theft Auto VI at about 7 million units and $675 million in revenue before launch, while Circana says purchase intent is the highest it has ever measured. Both are third-party figures.

Sensor Tower estimates that Grand Theft Auto VI has already sold about 7 million units, worth $675 million in revenue, GameSpot reports. The firm believes the game could reach 25 million preorders and $2 billion in revenue before release.
These are analyst estimates, not Rockstar or Take-Two numbers, and the 25 million figure is a projection rather than a count. Neither company has published preorder data.
Circana provides a second data point. Its figures show GTA VI at 29% purchase intent among US console and PC gamers, nearly one in three, the highest the firm has measured for any game. Intent is a survey answer, not a purchase, so I would treat the Sensor Tower figure as the harder number, though it is only an estimate too.
Circana analyst Mat Piscatella called the game a "rare cultural and commercial moment" for gaming. He ties the demand to the 13-year gap since GTA V.
Piscatella also expects the effect to spread beyond software to consoles, accessories and gaming subscriptions. With the release landing just before Black Friday, he thinks it could lift sales of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In September we reported on Xbox's claim about its preorder share, for which Microsoft shared no numbers.
GameSpot notes the game is confirmed only for console so far, with a PC edition expected in early 2027.
