Story and new features
The Game
Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony (TBoGT) is the second standalone episode that arrived for Grand Theft Auto IV in the two-piece pack on 29 October 2009. The GTA Episodes from Liberty City also contains the first add-on content of the hugely successful GTA IV, The Lost and Damned.
The game's main character is Luis Fernando Lopez, a drug dealer and the bodyguard of Anthony “Gay Tony” Price. “Gay Tony” is the owner of the two biggest nightclubs in Liberty City. Rockstar Games said in its press release that this episode injects a good dose of crime into Liberty City's already filthy streets. The player will often run into problems that also come up in real life, like uncertainty about family, loyalty and friends, and how hard it is to choose between real and fake in a world where everything has its price.
What's New
The Ballad of Gay Tony has new features like the mission replay function seen in Hitman or Manhunt. Briefly, this means that if we are not happy with the score we got during a mission, we can try again. In the GTA episodes, this option was last seen in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
The game's arsenal has also grown, with new weapons such as the M249 SAW machine gun, the .44 Auto Mag pistol and the DSR-1 sniper rifle. Just like the weapons, the vehicles also got a fresh blood transfusion. So the latest sports cars, sedans, a new airplane, the attack helicopter named “Buzzard”, the “Skylift” troop transport and the “Swift” helicopter got in. On top of that, the parachute seen in San Andreas is back too, making crazy-high jumps off the skyscrapers of Liberty City possible.
The game has room for the new “driving range”, which is a big-city golf course, and besides that we will be able to visit Tony's two nightclubs, where we can drink, dance and, by the way, take care of the place's security. If we feel like it, we can take part in underground illegal fights in an alley. In multiplayer, free mode, deathmatch, team deathmatch, race and GTA race got an update, and a new mode was introduced, “BASE jumping”.
