Liberty City

We return to the setting of GTAIII in Liberty City, in GTA: Liberty City Stories. Liberty City is really the virtual form of New York. The city is made up of 3 islands - Portland, Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale. The game takes place 3 years before GTAIII.

Portland: Heavy industry is significant on Portland island. Harbors, markets, garages and the unforgettable Red Light District are also here. Portland's real problem is the huge amount of crime happening here. Portland is home to the Mafia, the Triads and the Diablo gang. A railway runs around the island, which can help you find St. Mark's Bistro, 8Ball's workshop or Mr Wong's Laundromat.

Staunton Island: This is Liberty City's business district. It is home to rich businessmen and merchants. Lots of skyscrapers cover the island. The streets are crowded during the day, but dangerous at night. You can find the city's famous athletes in the sports hall here called the Liberty Memorial Coliseum. Love Media, the Liberty Tree and of course Kenji's Casino, run by the Yakuza, are here.

Shoreside Vale: Liberty City's residential district. You can meet lots of expensive sports cars on Shoreside Vale's flawless roads. Also here are the houses and palaces of the rich gangsters, with swimming pools and other extras. You can check out the Cochrane Dam any time. The Liberty City International Airport is also here.
