Take-Two revived a GTA VI trademark application after it was marked abandoned
USPTO records show one of Take-Two's GTA VI trademark applications was marked abandoned in April 2026 and revived eight days later. The trademark was never lost.

One of Take-Two Interactive's trademark applications for Grand Theft Auto VI was marked abandoned by the USPTO in April and revived eight days later. GTAVice.net, which ran the same piece on its sister site iGrandTheftAuto, pieced the story together from public USPTO records in an analysis published today.
The USPTO listed application 98298472 as "ABANDONED - NO USE STATEMENT FILED" on April 6, 2026. Eight days later, Take-Two filed a Petition to Revive along with another extension request. The petition was granted the same day, and the application is Live/Pending again. The cause was a missed deadline, not a dispute.
Take-Two filed the application on December 4, 2023, around the game's reveal. It covers the full "Grand Theft Auto VI" logo with the palm-tree "VI" design, for entertainment services: online games, gaming websites, audiovisual content and video game information. It received a Notice of Allowance in March 2025 and its first six-month extension in August 2025. From then on, Take-Two had to either show qualifying use in US commerce or keep requesting extensions. According to the outlet, that does not necessarily mean GTA VI merchandise has to be on sale. The use has to fit the goods or services each application covers.
The site stresses that the trademark was not lost. Take-Two's filings cover four logos, each in four categories, and 16 GTA VI applications are still active. Several are on their second or third extension.
One other application, 98298438 (printed materials), was abandoned in October 2024 and never revived. GTAVice.net believes it was an accidental duplicate of 98298398, a live application in the same category.
Next, the revived application needs either a statement of use or more extensions.
