Stolen Idea: GTA?!
Lately poor R* has really been having a run of bad luck, because now they're being accused of stealing an idea.
An excerpt from the article:
"..at the end of last week, Mark Gallagher started proceedings against Rockstar North, GTA's Edinburgh-based development team. Gallagher claims that in December 1993 he applied for a designer position at DMA, before the company changed its name to Rockstar North. When Gallagher was invited to a job interview, he took along a game demo called Crime Inc. (Bűn Rt.), which he had been developing from 1991 to 1993. Its theme is street wars between gangs fighting for control of the city. According to Gallagher, DMA kept the disk but didn't give him the job. Four years later, in 1997, DMA released the first part of Grand Theft Auto. According to Gallagher's accusations, this game uses his ideas and solutions on several occasions, for which he is now demanding no less than £1.5 million."
I don't know how true this is, but it's a bit interesting that the "idea man" waited this long to make a move. He was probably waiting for GTA to really take off so he could make a nice big pile of money from it. ;)
