Play magazine GTA IV preview
Play magazine has released its latest Grand Theft Auto preview. You can read it below:
- McReary is a corrupt cop, and he has some kind of past connection with Niko.
- The arms dealer called Little Jacob is a good friend of Niko's cousin, Roman. He keeps the weapons in his trunk, and you can pick from them just like you did at Ammu-Nation in the earlier games.
- During the phone call, Little Jacob names a place called Rotterdam Hill as the meeting point. It's located in Alderney.
- The first mission was called Call & Collect.
- There will be no more arrows to help you find your way around. The current target isn't marked with an arrow either, so you have to figure out for yourself who you need to kill in the crowd.
- The HUD only has a few elements left, including the map, the wanted level and the money counter.
- The demo had a cut-down version of the map.
- While the cops are chasing you, the map flashes, and the cops' line of sight is shown by little blue and red circles.
- There are 6 wanted levels, same as in the previous games.
- Pedestrians don't just smoke, they drink too.
- The game has become harder, which may disappoint a lot of fans…
- When you kill Goldberg, there can be two different cutscenes: either he falls out of the window, or he collapses on the floor.
- Niko kills Goldberg because he wants to do someone else a favour.
- When you leave Goldberg's office, 3 security guards block your way.
- You can use most objects in the environment as cover.
- As soon as you get out of the building, the mission is complete.
- Shots hitting different parts of the body affect people differently. For example, a shot to the head means instant death, while a long-range shot to the leg only wounds the victim, who will then hold their aching leg.
- Niko's mobile phone will probably serve as the menu in GTA IV, and we'll be able to reach the Multiplayer option from there too.
- You have to nurture your relationships with your friends. With Little Jacob, for example, you have to stay loyal and talk to him on the phone.
