Trouble at Rockstar
It seems the closing of *Rockstar Games*' Vienna studio two months ago was no coincidence: further cutbacks are under way at the *Take-Two Interactive* subsidiary. A recent GameDaily BIZ article reveals that Rockstar was also forced to close its Indie Built studio, and over the past months several executives have been fired or left voluntarily.

An interesting piece of news surfaced the other day: *Sony* is putting the better-known games ahead of their rivals that don't have a reputation yet. Jack Tretton of *Sony Computer Entertainment America* said that whether the new GTA comes out on a given console has no effect on the battle between the consoles.
Fake GTA IV Pictures
My buddy Roland tipped me off to some special news: fake pictures of the fourth GTA game have surfaced again. Yesterday afternoon I got a mass e-mail from a "disgruntled former Rockstar employee", with a picture attached that was shot off a TV screen with a digital camera.

Vice City Stories on PS2?

RAGE Engine in the Next GTA?
Grand Theft Auto IV will use the Table Tennis engine, says MTV. Based on what was said on the music channel (and an [article](https://web.archive.org/web/20060617230352/http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1530131/20060503/index.jhtml?headlines=) from early last month), the next-generation GTA will use *Rockstar Games*' in-house RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) engine, which recently debuted in Table Tennis on the Xbox 360.

Golden Joystick Awards 2006 - Nominations
The prestigious Golden Joystick Awards ceremony is being held again this year, and Grand Theft Auto has once more been nominated in several categories. The award is regarded as the biggest prize in the British video game industry, and it will be handed out on October 27th.
