OpenIV open beta
The GTA games have always been loved for modding, and it surely won't be any different with the fourth installment. For now the modders' toolset is still being developed, and after that I expect the mod explosion to begin.
One of these tools has now reached beta status, so you can try it out, but nobody's saying it will work perfectly.
Feature list:
- All of GTA 4's files can be viewed
- Full support for the RPF2 format. You can add, modify and delete any such file.
- Exporting and viewing files from RPF3 archives
- Full support for the IMG3 format. You can add, modify and delete any such file.
- Texture replacement works for any file in WTD and WHM format. The current version only supports PNG images, and textures can only be replaced with ones of the same resolution. (A 512*512 texture can only be replaced with another 512*512 one.)
- Built-in SCO script decompiler, currently in a very buggy state
- Can show previews for most of the formats used by GTA4
- The program's functions can be extended with plugin tools
- You can also extract resource files (RSC) and save their contents with the "save content" function. Among other things, this function lets you export all the textures from WTD files without opening them.
- Every file can also be viewed as raw hex data.
Well, dear modders, happy modding!
