GTA IV delayed in India
Anyone following the news can't have missed the huge trouble in India. Airport closures, military forces deployed, terrorists, everything that makes for a nasty headline. Well, the game's local publisher, e-Xpress Interactive, reckons it would be silly to live out shooting-and-chaos urges in a game when you can do it on the street too, so they're postponing the release.
Joking aside, according to the official announcement, the release is being postponed indefinitely because of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
It would be tactless for GTA 4 to hit the shelves within a week of the worst terror attack India has seen so far.
The GTA series is incredibly popular in India, among other reasons because, like every other video game, it is very cheap.
This couldn't have come at a worse time for e-Xpress, since the Indian PC release of GTA 4 would also have set a record: it will be the first time that a brand-new AAA title is available at the lowest price in the world here. The price is only 499 Indian rupees, while prices usually range between 999 and 1299.
We hope it won't be delayed there for long either. By the way, 499 rupees really is very little, only 2055 Ft at the current exchange rate, according to Google.
