Grand Theft Auto IV Radio Posts

I came across something interesting while browsing: an audio file that is claimed to come from one of the radio stations in the newest Grand Theft Auto. Judging by how serious the ads are, that claim could easily turn out to be true…

In this ad block from Rock Chix radio we can listen to 3 spots: a store's Christmas commercial, a company trafficking in Eastern European women, and a testimonial promoting a summer camp.

While listening to the ads, quite a few familiar tunes caught my ear. First I noticed a Red Hot Chili Peppers song, then The Offspring's hit "Hit That" pulled my attention away from the lyrics. In the next ad we get a snippet of Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue", and then a part of Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" as well. To whet your appetite, I'll also mention a few more well-known names, like the Beastie Boys, New Found Glory or Incubus.

I like quite a few of the bands mentioned above, and I know the songs came out at the end of 2004 and the beginning of 2005. So if we combine that fact with the Christmas ad (and of course with the recording being genuine), we can say with pretty good certainty that GTA IV will be set in the last quarter of 2005.
