GamePlayer Preview
Unfortunately we've fallen behind on a few news items lately, but we're doing our best to catch up. I'll start with the fact that the new screenshots have arrived, though sadly not in the size we would have liked. The Australian gamer site GamePlayer surprised us with a four-page GTA IV preview, hooray.
GTA IV has two aiming systems: one is lock-on (automatic aiming), the other is manual (like in San Andreas). The automatic aiming system works well from cover, for example when ducking behind a car.
Niko's phone plays an important role during the game. It won't just work as a phone: it also has a calendar, multiplayer access, and it's where you'll be able to send text messages to the friends you're playing with. This device will do a lot for the game's sense of realism. Because of this, the start-up menu was left out of the game, though it will probably get a place again in the PC version.
Just like in San Andreas, in this episode we'll also be able to place waypoints on the map.
