Codename GTA Trailer Analysis

If you're one of the many Grand Theft Auto fans, you've probably watched the second trailer, titled "Looking for That Special Someone", a dozen times already (if you haven't seen it yet, now's the time). Unlike the previous trailer, which only lifted the veil on a few things - like the setting of the story (Liberty City, which is more New York-ish than ever) or the main character (an Eastern European immigrant, Niko Bellic) - the second trailer gives us a decent look at the story and the gameplay, and we can spot a lot more characters, too. But beyond the intoxicating action and the incredibly good music (the Shy Child Remix of Arm In Arm by the New York band The Boggs, in case you were wondering), just how much practical information can we squeeze out of the trailer's frames? That's what we're going to analyze in our 3-part series.

UPDATE #1: True to my promise, part 1 of the trailer analysis is done, and the follow-up is due a week from today (15 July 2007).

UPDATE #2: June 15th has come, which means that here is the second part of the Codename GTA trailer analysis. The third and final part is expected on 20 July 2007, that is, Friday. One thing is for sure: after part 3 comes out, you can look forward to a little surprise! ;)
