Australia's workplace regulator explains how to get GTA VI launch day off
The Fair Work Ombudsman, an actual Australian government body, posted an Instagram guide to taking leave for GTA VI launch day. Spoiler: your boss still has the final say.

A government agency just did your GTA VI launch-day planning for you. Not a meme page. The actual regulator.
Australia's workplace watchdog, the Fair Work Ombudsman, posted an Instagram carousel on how Aussies can get time off for the big day. The setup: "Let's pretend GTA VI is coming out tomorrow, but you don't have any paid leave available to play on launch day." Then the question everyone's boss is dreading: "Can you take unpaid leave?"
The slides walk through the options under Australia's National Employment Standards, all dressed up in GTA VI artwork. Slide two even uses a shot from the extended look trailer.

Here's how your excuses hold up:
- Carer's leave: up to 2 days unpaid to look after a sick or injured family member. IGN describes the art: a loved one in a hospital bed, with someone pressing the back of their hand to a copy of the game instead of a forehead. The Ombudsman doesn't think this one applies.
- Emergency service duties: voluntary emergency work, like the SES. "Probably not this one either."
- Parental leave: up to 12 months unpaid for a new child. GTA VI shows up on an ultrasound screen, but the post points out that a video game isn't a child.

None of that fits? You can still ask your employer for unpaid leave. There's no minimum entitlement though, so it all comes down to whether they say yes.
The caption adds a "gentle reminder to get your leave request in sooner rather than later." As GTAVice.net notes, the game launches on November 19, which is 43 days from today.
Now go email your manager before half the office beats you to it.
